FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As one of their biggest investments people always have a lot of questions before making any decisions, below are some of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a trained roofing professional, most roofing work shouldn’t be carried out yourself. Also keep in mind that most manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those products unless a licensed professional carries out the work. The other thing to keep in mind is that working on a roof can be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?
It would be great if we could give you a straight forward answer to that question! But there really is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are so many different products available and each has its own merits and faults. To know which is the right roof for you, you should have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they see, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends on the type of roof and what inspections are required. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we can’t work on certain days then this will add time to the job. A small home could take around a week or so, while larger commercial projects could be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just make sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Since your roof is constantly exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to degrade over time. The rate at which it degrades will depend on a number of factors. These include; the quality of the original materials used and the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing contractors will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed because of the above factors. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any protective materials that have been added to provide protection from the elements. In addition, you should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they can also reduce the lifespan of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, as them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the unsightly algae and discoloration without damaging the tile or shingles.

Here’s a small sample of what some of our customers have had to say…
I would recommend him a million times if I could!
I noticed a leak on my patio and found my daughters bedroom carpet was damp in that same area. We are having a bad rain storm and the leak plus the rain was scaring me I would have bigger issues inside the house. Gary came out the very next morning and just from the drive up he already saw my issue. He got up on the roof took pictures to show and explain where the problems were. He got right on to fixing those issues and other things he found that I had no idea were there. He was quick efficient and very informative on what needed to be done. He never told me anything more then what I needed. Honesty and pride in his work showed from the minute he got there until he left! I would recommend him a million times if I could!
I definitely recommend Thompson Roofing

More About Colton
Colton is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Nicknamed “Hub City”, it is located in the Inland Empire region of the state and is approximately 57 miles (92 km) east of Los Angeles. The population of Colton is 52,154 according to the 2010 census, up from 47,662 at the 2000 census.
Colton is the site of Colton Crossing, which was one of the busiest at-grade railroad crossings in the United States. The crossing was installed in 1882 by the California Southern Railroad to cross the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks while building northward from San Diego. As a result of railroad acquisitions and mergers, this became the point at which the Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s “Southern Transcontinental Route” crossed the Union Pacific’s “Sunset Route”. As traffic on each line began to soar in the mid-1990s, fueled largely by the vast increase in imports passing through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, the primitive crossing became a serious bottleneck. On August 28, 2013, the at-grade crossing was officially replaced by a fly-over that raises the eastâwest UP tracks over the northâsouth BNSF tracks.

Local contractors are more likely to be familiar with the codes and building requirements in your town. Also, they are more unlikely in order to scam you from your money since they have to maintain their reputation in your community. 2. Verify the contractor is licensed and insured. Reputable contractors always take time to get licensed. You should be able to look up licensing information online with the website of your city or state. Check to make sure that the contractor’s license is valid and that it must be current before getting them. Additionally, ask the contractor to provide proof of liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance before they start work. 3. Solicit competing quotes. Ask each contractor to present you an itemized quote to be able to see just where your money is going. Ideally, they ought to send an agent to your property to check your roof directly before offering you an insurance quote. Like that, the estimate they give will probably be a lot more accurate. 4. Ensure that the company is trustworthy by reading through reviews off their past clients. Consider checking with groups such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to verify that no major complaints are already filed against them. 5. Get everything in writing. Don’t simply take a contractor at their word. Instead, question them to provide you with a written contract. Be sure both you and the contractor sign the agreement.
